Sunny Destinations... or Maybe Snowy
Computers 7/8 - Mr. Walso
Your Task: You are to create a travel brochure for a travel destination. Some possible destinations may include Moscow, Hawaii, Vancouver, Sufferin Lake or any other vacation spot.
1. You should do some research on your destination. You will want to find some interesting facts and pictures. Your entire brochure will need to include the following:
- A cover panel that includes the title of your destination and a large picture.
-
Four panels that include information and pictures of your destination. These info panels should have at least 2 sentences on each panel. You should include information on population, tourist attractions, shopping opportunities, historical sites, etc. (Basically anything that is unique about your destination.)
- A photo panel that includes photographs only.
2. When you are ready to begin your brochure, open Microsoft Word. The first thing that you need to do is change the orientation of your page so that it is landscape-shaped instead of portrait-shaped. Do this by clicking File > Page Setup. While you are in the Page Setup box, change the margins of your page to 0.5 inches all around: top, bottom, left and right.
3. The next thing that you need to do to get started is to add columns to your brochure. Use the Columns item of the Format menu to create three columns of equal width. Set the spacing between columns to 0.9 inches. This will set up your document so that the folds in a three-panel brochure land more or less in the gutters between the columns.
4. Add your information. Be sure to consider how the brochure will fold when you print it before you get started. Your brochure should look good, so spend some time thinking about fonts and how your pictures will look.
